Year 2012 for Indian tourism was fusion of various happening and especially worked on the irony side & dichotomies which were causing among various travel agencies. Comparatively stable Indian economy boost the outbound tourism because of aggressive tapping of Indian market by foreign countries. However, despite increased frequency of airlines, expansions planned by destination management companies, news of OTA’s merging & acquisitions and finalizing of newer tourism products, the growth of tourism Industry remained low, all thanks to undesirable internal and external developments.

The global economic has took toll on inbound tourism in India. While the Ministry of Tourism, India has projected 10% for the last year only a bit more than half of it i.e 5.9% was meet. Recorded data shows only 58.99 Lakh tourists visited India owing to several unfavorable factors including recession, visa issues, global terror threats, high service tax, hike in air tickets and so on. All the factors have led to limited growth in comparison to 7% growth of 2011.

The rise of middle class in India with improve purchasing power has risen interest of traveling to different foreign destinations, resulting in selling of more outbound tourism products by international agencies, but it did only bring little happiness for the discombobulated Indian outbound industry who were endeavoring to sell those products.

The constant fallout of travel agents, who were already facing harsh time, differences of views of various concerning authorities, me-first demeanor of loss-making airlines despite lacking the structural base related to remittances, commissions, NDC issues and weekly settlement are hindering the growth. There are few other things leading such mismanagement including rise in cost of fuel, revenue losses, airport tax rise and bureaucratic obstructions.
Past the year has forecasted future of Tourism Industry for India for the current year ‘2013’. This year too more or less remained same if government doesn’t take any progressive step.
