Punnathurkotta houses <a href="http://www.concepttravel.in/kerala/kerala-wildlife.html" rel="nofollow" style="color: #004276; text-decoration: initial;" target="_blank" title="elephants of Kerala">elephants of Kerala</a> belonging to the Guruvayur temple and in this 10 acres facility which is used to train elephants to participate in religious festivals throughout the year there are nearly 65 elephants now. Punnathurkotta is now a training school for mahouts and the compound also has a nalukettu, a traditional rectangular home with a central courtyard, which belonged to the <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Punnathur Raja</strong>. <strong>Kaziranga National Park : </strong>The Kaziranga National Park was founded near the banks of the Brahmaputra River, the park can be found in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam. The park has been honored as a world heritage site and is also home to two thirds of the world’s Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. Since its declaration as a tiger reserve back in the year 2006, Kaziranga National Park has become home to one of the highest densities of tigers in a protected area. The park is also famous as a breeding spot for elephants, wild water buffalos as well as swamp deer’s. The lands of the Kaziranga National Park are mostly consistent of elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical forests.</div>

<strong>Periyar National Park : </strong>Periyar National Park is located in Periyar, which is a protected area located in the state of Kerala. Much of the park is covered by undisturbed evergreen or semi-evergreen rain forests. This park is well known for its elephants and its mammals which total up to a total of 62 different species, many of which are endangered. The reserve is also home to a total of 53 tigers in a recent recording in the tear of 2010.</div>

<strong>Sariska Tiger Reserve : </strong>The Sariska Tiger Reserve can be found in the state of Rajastan. The area was originally a hunting reserve but was later converted into a wildlife reserve in the year 1955. In light with the launch of Project Tiger in India in the year 1978, the park also gained recognition as a tiger reserve. The area of the park spans over a massive total of 866 kilometer square. Some of the famous wildlife you can find in the Sariska Tiger Reserveissuch as the Bengal tigers, Four horned antelopes and the Rhesus monkeys. However tragedy struck the park in the year 2004 when it was declared that there were no longer anymore tigers in Sariska. One of the possible arguments brought up as a reason why was poaching.</div>

It is a reserve which is well known for its status as one of the largest reserves of the Bengal tiger. It also houses a large variety of birds, reptiles, and invertebrate species including the extremely large salt-water crocodile. The park was originally just a tiger reserve back in the year 1973 but was later named a national park in the year 1984. The park boasts a total of 64 different species of plants. The park is also well known for its breathtaking beauty in the months of April and May when the scarlet red leaves of the Genwa and the yellow flowers from of the Khalsi plant can be seen. Besides that the Park is also home to over 400 tigers.</div>

<strong>Dhudhwa National Park : </strong>The Dhudhwa National Park is famous for being one of the tiger reserves in India and is located in Lakhim Pur Kgeei District of Uttar Pradesh. The Park also boasts a variety of animals consisting of 38 species of mammals, 16 species of reptiles, 400 species of birds and 90 species of fish. The national park is also home to one of the rarest birds in the world, known as a Bengal Florican. The Bengal florican has a global population of 600 and 40-50 of those birds can be found in the national park.</div>

The St.John church which is amidst the wilderness is located in true natural ambience. This was where the<strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">British Viceroy Lord Elgin</strong> breathed his last and was laid to rest sometime in the 19th century. With a large population of the Tibetan community here <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dharamshala</strong> is certainly the perfect place to be in and has a great number of travel delights such as these to experience.</div>

The War memorial is one such place which I went to see while I was at <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dharamshala</strong>. This is the most beautiful monument here and the landscaped lawns filled with pine groves and beautiful surroundings make this a lovely place to see and a great place to pay respects to the heroes of the state of <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Himachal Pradesh</strong>.</div>

Then we had gone to the Kotwali Bazar where the absolutely beautiful sights of the <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Kangra Valley</strong>’s arts and crafts displayed the greatest artifacts and the most magnificent miniature paintings going back to the times immemorial. There are collections of pottery, sculptures, and anthropological items. the Shamianas and the dresses that were used by royalty, the jails, the old carved doors, pandals and lintels all add to the beauty around and the lovely displays of the coins, manuscripts and the jewellery is another thing to reckon with.</div>

The St.John Church was the next place I had been to and I was totally taken in by the lovely architecture of this church and the beautiful deodar trees which lent more beauty to the place than before. This memorial was built over the body of Lord Elgin who was the British Viceroy and who died here at <strong>Dharamshala</strong> in the year 1863. There is a graveyard here and this has a wall surrounding it. The entire terrain is laden with grass and the place was really very mesmerizing.</div>

McLeod ganj or <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Little Lhasa</strong> is the next place I went to. This is where His Holiness the <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dalai Lama</strong> lives and has been here for more than 30years. The magnificent monastery has huge images of the Padmasambhava and Buddha and also Avalokteshwara. The architectural design and the traditional works here enthralled me and I was really amazed at the kind of structures and places that the <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Indian</strong> subcontinent has. The garments and the curios and the lovely sights around added to the lovely feeling.</div>

After this we went to Bhagsunath which is a land of absolutely beautiful fresh water springs, with the ancient temple which is around 11 km from <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dharamshala</strong>. This is a famous picnic spot and the sight of the slate quarries here enchanted me.</div>

<strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Kunal Pathri</strong> is a lovely three kilometre walk I took from the Kotwali bazaar and it is one of the most interesting activities here in the land of <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dharamshala</strong>. It led up to the rock temple here. It was an exciting activity and perhaps the most memorable of my tours here.</div>

Dharamkot is another place I went to and I was simply mesmerized to see the lovely panoramic view from the top of the hill Station here. This is also a greatly popular picnic spot and one gets perfect views of the Kangra Valleyand also the Dhauladhar ranges here. Again around 11 km from <strong class="StrictlyAutoTagBold">Dharamshala</strong> this is a popular place to visit near this lovely land of pleasures.</div>
